Getting That Mouse Out Of The House

About Me
eliminating the pests in your home

Ants, spiders, fleas, mice and silverfish were all problems in my house at one point. When we bought the house, it hadn't been lived in for about three years. Since it was basically abandoned, the pests moved in and made it their homes. The first few months of battling with these pests was the hardest. We had so many different pests to contend with that it was hard to know where to start. With the help of a professional pest control technician, we have taken our home back from those pests and have been living pest free ever since. If you are dealing with mice in your home then you want to do everything possible to get rid of them. This includes taking away things that tempt and feed them, preventing access and getting rid of the ones you already have. You can learn a lot of helpful tips by reading this guide to getting rid of mice in your home:

Taking away what tempts mice

Mice love to have easy access to foods and they aren't picky about what they eat. If you know you have a problem with mice then you want to pull everything out of your cupboards and make sure that you clean them out to remove any and all crumbs of food. Invest in plastic containers for things like cereals and pastas and use jars with tight fitting lids for things like sugar and rice.

Keep the floors swept and vacuumed so crumbs can't be found on the floors and keep the counters cleaned. This makes it much harder for mice to find things to eat around your home. You also want to pull out furniture people eat in and make sure you vacuum or sweep the crumbs from under them as well.

Limit their access to the inside of your home

When you are pulling everything out of the cupboards you want to look for any cracks and holes mice may be accessing them through. Keep in mind, mice can squeeze through very small areas. Also, look under sinks, especially near plumbing pipes, along baseboards, along window sills and everywhere else to look for small areas mice may be using to get inside your home.

You want to check under all your doors to look for some light coming through the bottom. If you see light, then you may want to replace the current threshold with a new one that may take up more room and cut out that small space mice can squeeze right through.

Get rid of the mice already in your home

You can use a variety of methods to get rid of the mice already in your home. The method you choose may depend on whether or not you have kids or pets since you may not want to use poison or traditional traps in these instances. You can also get a mouser cat who will help get rid of mice quickly. Another method is to use a plug in sound device that sends out a sound humans can't hear, but that mice don't like. If you can't seem to get rid of the mice, or they keep getting in, then the best thing that you can do is to have a pest control company, such as PermaTreat Pest & Termite Control, come out to help you to take care of the mouse problem.
